Worry. Vacation. Relief.

Guys! Mom and Dad left us! Can you even believe your ears? It’s been like 3 days. Zuc and I love our Uncle Luke and his girlfriend Emily but they are not our Mom and Dad. On Sunday when Mom got home she, Dad, grandmom and grandpup packed some bags. Naturally Zuc and I got all hyped up excited because we get to go everywhere but then they said those dreaded words: “you’re staying”. It has never been a good day when we hear that. I started to panic. When I panic I have accidents. Brown puddle accidents. Can’t even help it..

Thank goodness for Emily though. She cleaned it all up so Uncle Luke didn’t puke. Then they stayed with us all night. I even got to snuggle up between them like I do with Mom and Dad. Zuc slept in Mom and Dad’s bed to keep a look out in the chance that they got home during the night.

We went to the park the other day and didn’t even play. It was our personal mission to find a way out for search and rescue Mom and Dad. We didn’t get too far.

And then, they came back! Mom was in high spirits and didn’t seem like she hurt too much. Dad spent the next day with us while Mom was at work. As soon as she got home we ALL got in the car and went for a ride to other grandmom and grandpup’s house!

Let’s Get You Up to Speed

While I was gone:

  • The Dog Lodge LLC happened
  • Mom changed her last name, and mine.
  • We ditched nursing school

It’s been an interesting few months!

The Dog Lodge

What an amazing place. I’ve only been there a few times but mom brings home all kinds of smells! When I go we mostly stay in the training arenas. I’m going to be an agility competitor!

Last Name Changes

We’re Peets’ now! Mom and Dad got married in October. It was the best time! I got to dress up and be the life of the party. Everyone loved us. I’ll give you more to dig into later.

Nursing School

I’ve decided to dedicate an entire post just to that. It involves a lot of fibromyalgia and mental health so there’s a lot to talk about.

I’m Back!

So I’ve been a mischievous puppy. Mom and dad have been crazy busy so of course I go about my puppy day doing puppy things. Those things include: counter surfing, chewing up the recycling, spreading anything and everything I can find from one end of the apartment to the other!

You may ask, “why are your mom and dad so busy?”. Well, mom is now the MANAGER of The Dog Lodge LLC and dad, well I’m not sure what he does but I know he spends a lot of time there. They’re both working hard to get Zuc and I a yard! I can’t wait! It better be a good one, like Artemis’ yard with lots of trees and squirrels.

Oh. My. Gosh. You don’t even know who Artemis is it’s been so long!

Artemis is my new best friend ever. She’s just like me except she’s a black schnauzer. Her mom is Ana. Mom and Ana both went to nursing school together and now they both work at The Dog Lodge together! (Nursing school was horrible and we just aren’t even going to talk about it. That’ll be a post all it’s own.)

Anyway, I’m back and it’ll be as interesting as ever!

Holy. Moly.

Okay, I haven’t been on in quite a while but mom has been suuuuper busy so I haven’t been allowed to use the computer. We’ve been back and forth to grandmom’s house and home and Aunt Stephenie’s so much! I love car rides but sometimes you just gotta be able to lay on the cool hardwood floor of home.

Grandmom is doing great now! There were some complications and its been a long road to recovery but my mom is going to be a great nurse. She goes back to school in a couple weeks so it was good practice for her. I just wish that with her doing such a great job in nursing that she could nurse herself. She had been doing really well for a while but now that things have been crazy she’s been having a lot of migraines and fibro flares. Just this morning another one hit, but it was like a baby flare so she was still able to function all day. Which was a reeeeally good thing since she had a working interview at The Dog Lodge! She came home smelling of all kinds of good stuffs! So many fun pups I wish I could meet. Who knows, maybe someday I will! I haven’t seen mom so happy to leave us and still happy when she got home in a long time. It’ll be good for her. Zuc and I however, we aren’t happy about it one bit.

Back At It!

Mom brought us back home on Saturday. We were all ready to be home and back to normal again. Especially Zuc, he was starting to freak out a little bit being away from dad for so long. I missed dad too. Mom and her mom and dad, along with Auntie and her boyfriend, Uncle and his girlfriend all left as soon as we got back! It was okay though, Zuc and I got to cuddle with dad alllll night! When they all came home it was really late. I could smell Aunt Steph on them. I could also smell foods, delicious alcohol, and a yummy plant smell that sometimes wafts in from the neighbor’s house.

Mom neverrrrr stays out late. The next morning I could tell she felt bad but she was happy. It was weird. She stayed in bed almost all day! We did address a whole pile of wedding invitations but even just doing that she had to take rests. Monday she was still sore. We went for our walk but barely. She took all kinds of medicines but we still didn’t do much. Hopefully today will be different and she’ll be okay enough to play! Then again, I’ve been recovering from playing so hard with Flash, Sampson, and Bandit I haven’t done much other than sleep too!

Grrrandmom and Grrrrandpup’s House!

We went to mom’s parent’s house for the week! Mom wanted to be able to meet with her mom and dad’s mom to plan the wedding. She also picked out the most beautiful dress! I can’t wait to get dirt on it! While she was out dress shopping and whatever else you do for a wedding I got to play with Flash, Sampson, and the new puppy!

Flash and Sampson are sorta my age so we’re all big but Bandit is a new puppy. Mom says I have to be careful not to hurt him but he’s the same size as Zuc. I pummel Zuc all the time and he doesn’t hurt. Bandit cries a lot and is reeeally clumsy so I made sure I was careful anyway. We played every day! He even likes to chew sticks with me! First I make him chase me for it because he can’t catch me and it’s fun but then I always chill out and share.

Zuc doesn’t like him much. Bandit always jumps on his face and it freaks him out. I try to buffer the two of them. Sometimes I think I make it worse.

Anyway, dad had to go back home for the week to work. I miss him.

Engagement!!

Sorry we haven’t been able to post in a while. On Sunday we went hiking. I looooove hiking! There was all kinds of water and even some waterfalls. Mom was supposed to go with us and dad’s sister Steph but at the last minute dad decided he wanted to go too. He doesn’t even like hiking so we thought he was crazy since it was 90 degrees out but we let him come anyway. On the hike back down the trail we stopped to see a waterfall for the second time. I jumped up on the rock wall so I could see better but jumped back down because I thought I’d get in trouble. Turns out mom wanted to get a picture like that so dad bent down to try to boost me back up. Instead of picking me up though he asked mom if I had a tick! A tick!? Can you believe that?! I don’t get ticks anymore, I take medicine for that. When mom bent down to check, dad held up the shiniest tick I’d ever seen! I’m starting to think it wasn’t a tick though since mom grabbed it out of dad’s hand to put it on her finger and was smiling and laughing. Dad asked her if she would marry him and mom was like “uhh, yeah”. I’m not really sure what or who  marry is but they both seem excited and happy. Mom’s been wearing the tick on her finger everyday and now we’ve been planning something called a wedding everyday this week! She keeps saying we don’t have a lot of time because she wants a fall wedding but doesn’t want to wait more than a year. The pictures look boring but mom says it’ll be fun. Plus, I get to be in it!

I Keep Getting Locked Up!

So, on Tuesday, Mom and Brooke wanted to do something fun. It was raining. A nice, sloshy, drizzly rain that I loooove to go play in. Side note: guess who didn’t get to go play in it. Yup, me. Anyway, they decided to go to the mall to get pedicures and watch movies. (Uh, hello, you can do that here and still let me run in the rain!) Mom wanted to see Baywatch and Snatched. They both sound super boring to me. Brooke decided they would see Baywatch first and then Snatched all in the same day, but had to give up their pedicures because Brooke had to go home for work on Wednesday. They locked us up and went on their way. I obviously need to work on my puppy-dog eyes. They don’t seem to be working! I keep getting locked up!

Dad got home before them. Mom came running in from the wrong side of the house! I thought something bad was happening so I got up and ran to meet her. My fur was standing straight up! She started giggling and I knew it was okay so I tried to play with her. She loved it. She told dad she was trying to beat his friend to the door because she realized he was following her and drove super slow. Mom can be a meany sometimes. Brooke came in huffing behind her. She had lots of bags that smelled amazing. So many different smells! I shoved my head right in to poke around and got a swat on the butt. This always happens but I can’t stop myself. Brooke started complaining about how mom couldn’t tolerate sitting in those movie theater chairs for two whole movies so they only ended up seeing Baywatch. Mom smelled a little sick. I could tell her tummy hurt and she was stiff now that all of the excitement was over.

Brooke had to leave right away so she would be home in time for sleeps since she had to work the next day. I was sad and waited at the window for her to come back in for a little while. Mom kept telling me she’d be back but not for now. So we went and made food for dad and his friends- his brother came over too. All they did was play dumb baseball video games. I wish they would go outside and play real baseball. The kind where I chase them is my favorite. But while dad, his friend, and his brother all ate mom didn’t. Her tummy was too upset and she was sore all over. So we crawled into bed and watched Chopped until dad and Zuc came in for sleeps.

Move-In Day

Alright, so we’ve been living in this apartment for a couple months now. I still wanted to share this experience so I thought, why not start in the past?

This should give you a little taste of what’s in store:

My parents’ house is a big 100 year old farm house with a dog door and a large fenced yard. When we visit, Alfie has full rein. Their dogs love her. The three of them run in and out, in and out, all day long. Zuc isn’t real sociable, so he’s pretty settled. In May, we moved out of a third floor apartment with no yard, just a small fenced in pet park. Our new apartment is on the first floor with a large sliding glass door and patio. Beyond the patio is a big open yard.

Alfie loves car rides. This trip was about 5 hours long. Alfie drinks a lot and I mean a lot. We had to take water away for the trip. She and Zuc were perfect little passengers so there was no need to stop.

When they arrived, the dogs were unleashed. Alfie, being the big goon that she is, runs straight down the hallway and somehow finds the bathroom immediately. Now, the toilet is by far her favorite water dish, so naturally her whole face goes directly into the potty water. She drank almost the whole bowl in two seconds flat. In the same motion she whips out of the bathroom, toilet water flying from her face, and takes off through the kitchen. She sees the open sliding glass door, the screen was closed, and takes off for it. She slams into it and bounces of off it backward into the living room. Finally she just sits down with her tongue lolling out of her mouth and looks around at everyone and everything with sheer joy on her face. All happening in under 3 minutes. This dog is the biggest goofball I’ve ever met but I wouldn’t have her any other way.
